ZEE5 recently announced a new short film festival which it will be hosting this month. Alongside the content revealed in their April calendar, this festival is an addition to keep up with increased OTT viewership owing to the lock-down.
The platform via a tweet revealed that the festival will begin with a film titled, Heartbeat starring Rajeev Khandelwal and Anupriya Goenka.
Heartbeat is an intense story focusing on the sensitive issue of euthanasia. According to the official description:
What is a human being? At what stage is he alive? At what stage does he cease to be? These are the questions that Saanvi Jain finds herself grappling with as she sets out to make the biggest decision on her life.
Synopsis
The recently released trailer shows that Khandelwal’s character, an ex air-force pilot met with an accident mid flight which shattered his spine, rendered him bedridden and brain dead.
Saanvi Jain (Goenka) is seen conversing with a healthy Khadelwal who is probably a figment of her imagination while the actual patient is still in bed and unconscious. They argue over ending his life as it has been three years and he has no hope for survival.
Heartbeat is first in a series of nine films which will be a part of this short film festival premiering on 15 April 2020.
