10 upcoming web series to watch out for in February 2021

While viewers are still recovering from all the great web series and movies that released on streaming in January, the new month is just around the corner and it’s bringing an equally interesting line-up of shows.

It may be the shortest month of the year, but OTT platforms still have you covered to sail through it, with their genre-bending series headlined by some big names.

Here are 10 web series releasing in February that you should definitely keep a lookout for:

Firefly Lane

Available on: Netflix

Cast: Katherine Heigl, Sarah Chalke, Ben Lawson

A light-hearted drama, Firefly Lane based on Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name. It follows the story of two best friends, Kate and Tully, whose friendship has survived more than three decades. But just when they think they’ve weathered all possible storms together, a single act of betrayal puts their entire friendship into question.

Love Scandal and Doctors (LSD)

Cast: Rahul Dev, Punit J Pathak, Siddharth Menon, Neha Hinge, Ashmita Jaggi

A medical thriller, LSD follows five interns of the KMRC hospital as they get embroiled in a murder investigation. The interns do their best to cover their tracks for a crime they may or may not committed, but they only get pulled deeper into the mess, taking the institute’s name down with them. Through its plot, the whodunit explores themes of power, politics and rivalry.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel

Available on: Netflix

This Netflix true-crime series delves into the history of the infamous Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. While the hotel has been the spot of many crimes over the years, the docu-series particularly focuses on the disappearance and subsequent death of a student, Elisa Lam. Crime Scene has been helmed by ‘Ted Bundy Tapes’ director Joe Berlinger.

The Big Day

The Big Day takes a deep dive into India’s multi-billion dollar wedding industry. It follows six couples and the events leading up to their weddings and is filled with interviews, social commentary and footage from their extravagant ceremonies.

The Crew

A fine addition to Netflix’s roster of comedy series, The Crew stars James as a NASCAR crew chief. His life ie upended when the owner of the team steps down and passes on the baton to his daughter, Catherine. Trouble begins when Catherine starts modernizing the team, but James must protect himself and his crew at all costs.

Behind Her Eyes

Cast: Simona Brown, Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman, Robert Aramayo

Behind Her Eyes is a psychological thriller that follows the story of a single mother, Louise. Her life changes when she begins an affair with her new boss, but events take a stranger turn she when also befriends his wife. Louise’s little fantasy soon turns into a dark tale of secrets, conspiracy and lies.

Tribes of Europa

Cast: Henriette Confurius, Emilio Sakraya, David Ali Rashed

Set in the year 2074, the German sci-fi series follows three siblings who set out to change the fate of Europe, which has been rendered fragmented, with tribal micro-states scrambling for power, after a global catastrophe. The trio gets caught between warring tribes, and matters are further complicated when they come into possession of a mysterious cube.

Girls Hostel 2.0

The second outing of Girls Hostel will see the girls grapple with issues ranging from their safety to college elections as their friendships and loyalties are put to test. Much like the previous one, the new season too will be replete with drama, romance and humour.

Ginny & Georgia

Cast: Antonia Gentry, Brianne Howey

Ginny & Georgia centres around 15-year-old Ginny Miller and her free-spirited mother, Georgia Miller, as they navigate life, relationships and family problems together. The show is being touted as the next Gilmore Girls, but what makes its storyline different is its element of suspense.

1962: The War In The Hills

Available on: Disney+ Hotstar

Cast: Abhay Deol, Sanjay Dadhich, Rohan Gandotra

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, War in the Hills is based on true events and will shed light on the Sino-Indian conflict of 1962. While the web series will show what led to the tense dispute, it also brings to the audiences an untold story of a soldier and his bravery.
