Margit Sorensen: Sugar character explained

In Sugar, Margit Sorensen is David Siegel’s mother. Anna Gunn plays Margit.

Jonathan Siegel describes Margit as a horrible woman. In the series, Margit is seen as very proud of her son, David “Davy” Siegel.

She envisions a bright future ahead for Davy, who has recently filmed the sequel to his film The Boy in the Corner.

A protective mother

Years ago, Davy was nominated for Best Supporting Actor as a child, and now, Margit likes to think that he will win the Best Actor Award.

Margit has seen the rough cut of the film and firmly believes that her son has delivered a great performance.

While she is expressing her dreams for Davy, Bernie lets Margit in on how all of these dreams may just remain dreams.

There is a chance that Davy’s indiscretions may come to light. This news sees Margit turn into a protective mother.

It is hinted that she knows about her son’s antics and is still willing to go to lengths to protect him when she asks Bernie to give her the name of the girl who is a threat to Davy.

Margit meets Sugar

However, this time around, things are a lot more complicated, as Sugar is involved. Sugar meets Margit at a screening party attended by the Siegels as well.

During the same event, news about accusations of sexual harassment against Davy becomes public. A heartbroken Davy, who sees that his future is jeopardized, is comforted by Margit.

Margit calls the news lies and defends her son. No matter how much Margit tries to protect her son, Davy voluntarily agrees to talk to Sugar.

Even though Margit is there for him, Davy, overwhelmed by his mistakes, decides to kill himself at the end of the fifth episode.
