Who is Monty in Dead Boy Detectives?

Monty is one of the major supporting characters in Dead Boy Detectives. Joshua Colley plays the character in the show.

Esther the witch is defeated by the dead boy detectives, accompanied by their psychic friend Crystal.

They deprive her of the victim she was going to feed to her snake and in turn, gain a youthful boost to her appearance.

She seeks revenge and the way she goes about it is manipulation. She intends on luring the boys to certain conditions and getting rid of them once they’re trapped.

A handsome boy

She takes Monty, her pet crow, and uses her magic to transfigure it into a handsome young boy. Monty is tasked with making Edwin fall for him.

He begins stumbling on to him regularly and showing deep interest in him. He fawns over him and tries anyway to get close to him.

Meanwhile, he raises no red flags that Edwin or his friends can spot.

The confession & heartbreak

While he has a task to do at the orders of Esther, he really starts to fall for Edwin. He eventually ends up kissing Edwin, but the latter isn’t interested in him, and he tells him that much.

It breaks Monty, who has fallen for Edwin but hadn’t realized until then that it wasn’t being reciprocated. Later, Edwin learns from the Cat King that Monty is a crow belonging to Esther.

Monty shows up to Esther, telling her that his identity has been revealed to Edwin, which causes Esther to lash out and return him to his crow form.

In the final episode, he showcases that he’s not just an irredeemable antagonist but a complex character, by helping Charles get his equipment which he uses to later destroy Esther’s pet snake.
