Sean: Bodkin character explained

Sean is one of the major supporting characters in Netflix’s mystery thriller dark comedy, Bodkin. Chris Walley plays the character in the show.

Sean O’Shea is the son of Edna. He does odd jobs, like driving tourists around the town. Most of the time while on the job, he’s occupied with something else.

In the pubs, he exchanges some packages with sketchy people in sketchy ways. He’s got a main business that is all but legal.

Sketchy professions

Later on in the show, it’s revealed that he works for Seamus Gallagher, the former infamous smuggler, who now smuggles under a fake name from Bodkin.

They smuggle eels and Sean often errs on the job and gets earfuls from his boss. He’s got dreams and since he’s originally from Romania, he dreams of going there.

He knows many facts about Romania and doesn’t know that he’s actually from Bodkin, a place he’s never left in his whole life.

Biological baloney

That’s because his adoptive mother Edna O’Shea took him in after his biological mother Fiona’s death, who didn’t want him anywhere near his father, who as it turns out, is Seamus himself.

When he learns the truth, he can’t bring himself to reckon with it, especially because by now Seamus was going to flee the town, being chased by his enemies.

Sean had thought it was finally time for him to take the reigns of the operation and become wealthy. However, it didn’t pan out that way ultimately and Seamus went away, and so did their business.

Having lost a thumb, he still has his life, which he now lives with his mother Edna, who’s the only mother he cares about and wants to know about.
