Lydia Beaufort is James’ sister who gets the opposite treatment that her brother gets. Sonja Weißer plays the character.
After Lydia Beaufort is caught by Ruby Bell while making out with her teacher Graham Sutton, she goes crying to her brother James to fix the issue.
She tries to keep a low profile while the issue is being handled, but she is also kept out of the picture by her father, Mortimer, who is disappointed in her.
He believes that she is incompetent and cannot be trusted with important matters. That’s why the “Young Beaufort” line is put in James’ hands even though it was her idea.
Lydia knows every speech and detail about the new line because it all came from her mind but Mortimer prefers James as the face of the project.
Forbidden love
Lydia meets with Graham later to discuss where they stand but he tells her that they should stay apart because if they get caught it would be catastrophic.
It is later revealed that Mortimer had a hand in that by paying Graham to stay away. On the day of the press conference for the Young Beaufort launch, James has a responsibility
He’d rather be at the charity gala with Ruby, and since Lydia knows the speech better they come up with a plan.
Lydia shows up at the press conference to deliver that speech, but Mortimer shuts it down. Seeing her so devastated later on, Graham approaches her to check on her.
He says that he loves her and he’s tired of denying them the love that they share. They think about running away together but aren’t able to follow through.
She tells James the story of how she got to know him and that she fell in love even before she met him for the first time.
Lydia is also invited to Oxford for the interviews, but the night before, she finds out that she is pregnant.
She believes her life is over, but some inspiring words from Ruby raise her spirits. She leaves a message for her mother hoping to catch up.
She is then hit with the shocking news of her mother’s death.
