Gang Nam-Soon is the lead protagonist in Netflix’s Kdrama Strong Girl Nam-Soon. The character is played by Lee Yoo-Mi.
Gang Nam-Soon went missing as a kid in another country and grew up in a household that quickly became her own.
The faint memories of the birthplace and her birth family stuck around and after years of longing to reunite with them, she finally gets the chance to do so.
Lost in Mongolia
As a kid, Nam-Soon was taken on a trip to Mongolia by her father, who is a photographer. However, amidst his photography, the plains of this foreign land engulfed his daughter.
He tries to find her and she tries to look for her father, but both fail to do so. A crying Nam-Soon wanders aimlessly, riding a horse, when she’s found by a Mongolian couple.
Having no child of their own, the couple sees Nam-Soon as a blessing from above and adopts her. They raise her like their own blood and she enjoys a farm life in bliss.
Journey to Korea
Nam-Soon’s only connection to Korea in Mongolia is a TV set, and she soon finds herself attracted to the Korean media. Beautiful Korean men are her favorite.
She learns Korean from an old woman who once lived in Korea, and eventually masters it, except for the honorifics, the lack of which throws people off when she is in Korea.
She decides to stay in Mongolia until she grows up enough and while she works for her adoptive family. She does just that and at the age of 22 years old, she leaves for Korea.
Super runs in the blood
The country of her birthplace seems and sounds like the one she envisioned at first, but the scenario changes quickly as she’s conned, robbed, and the police confiscate her stuff too.
However, for a girl who’s strong beyond ordinary measures of strength, Gang Nam-Soon’s troubles only cut deep when they’re of an emotional nature. When it comes to physical hurdles, Nam-Soon can just demolish them all.
She comes from a long line of superhuman women in her birth family. Her mother, grandmother, and other women before them have all possessed great strength that defied biology, physics, and several other fields of science.
Even among her superwoman family members, Gang Nam-Soon is the strongest yet. She began exhibiting ridiculous power at a very tender age. Gradually, she began demonstrating a whole range of feats like super speed.
