In XO, Kitty, with Kitty’s help, Q finally gets to date the boy he likes, Florian, but then Florian’s actions make Q question everything, including their relationship. Florian is played by Théo Augier.
Kitty continues using her matchmaking skills even when she moves to Seoul to attend KISS. It does not take long before she notices that Dae’s best friend and roommate, Q, likes Florian, one of the international students.
Even though it is clear that Q likes Florian, he denies it and complains about his personality. He believes that Florian is an elitist who hates athletes, and Q is an athlete. However, Kitty is determined to play Cupid and get this pair to date.
Florian and Q’s budding romance
To succeed in her mission, Kitty gets Florian to choose Q as his partner for a school project. She also asks Q to invite Florian to a binge party, which would allow him to get closer to him.
The first binge party is ruined for Q and Florian because of Min Ho. Florian leaves without finishing the movie but tells Q that he would be willing to do this again when it is just the two of them.
With time, Florian and Q grow close, just as Kitty had planned. While Q knows everything that is going on in Kitty’s life, sometimes Florian also becomes a part of discussions about Kitty’s life and her mother when he is with Q.
Eventually, Florian asks Q to be his boyfriend, and they start dating. Furthermore, when they go on the school trip together, it becomes more and more clear that Florian and Q are not very different from each other as Q had earlier assumed.
Desperate times call for desperate measures
Florian is a good student; he even impresses Professor Lee. However, when he starts dating Q, his grades suffer because he is distracted and cannot focus on schoolwork.
Being with Q makes Florian happy, but there are still other problems in his life. Florian’s parents are in the middle of a divorce and have been fighting over his custody and child support. They want to make him pick sides, which he does not want to do.
His father wants him to move to France with him, and his mother wants him to move to Greece with her and his Greek Orthodox grandparents who do not and cannot know that he is gay.
His parents are very particular about his grades. At a time when they are both looking for ways to make him live with either of them, his grades become more important than ever before. If he cannot keep up his grades, his parents will force him to move.
Q’s friends see Florian with someone and assume that Florian is cheating on Q. When Q confronts him about it, Florian admits that he cheated in exams, not on Q. Florian forgot to prepare for the exams because of his relationship with Q, so he bought some tests off of a KISS alumnus.
Q does not approve of Florian’s actions, as he believes cheating is wrong. He still tries to convince himself that this is rather romantic when even Kitty points out that cheating shows bad character.
When the results come out, Florians ranks first and takes Dae’s spot. It makes Q even more upset because Dae is his best friend. Florian claims that he did not mean to do that to Dae, but that does not help.
Earlier, he had also claimed that he was just helping himself and not hurting anyone. That is not true, as his actions hurt Dae, who will now lose his room and board scholarship because he did not get the first rank.
Although Q and Florian love each other and Florian now gets to stay at KISS, his actions might cost him his relationship with Q.
