Alistair Ellington: Maxton Hall character explained

Alistair Ellington is James Beaufort’s best friend and one of the more sensible guys in the group. Justus Riesner plays the character.

Alistair Ellington is James’ closest friend and they are also teammates on the lacrosse team.

He also has a sister named Elaine with whom James has a casual romantic involvement.

Before one of their games, James warns Alistair about getting revenge against one of their opponents for something that happened in a previous game.

Alistair doesn’t listen and takes down the player leading to a brawl and him getting sent off.

He introduces himself to Ruby while on the side, although that is their most meaningful exchange.

Romantic troubles

Alistair is always there to offer advice or just chat with James when he needs it. He is also single and often uses dating apps to find guys to date.

James walks in on Alistair making out with Keshav during one of the house parties. Alistair tells James that Keshav isn’t ready to come out in public yet, so they must keep it a secret.

But Keshav feels the pressure and toxic masculinity of their other friends and publicly dismisses the thought of making out with another guy.

This annoys Alistair and he starts ignoring Keshav to teach him a lesson. Alistair is also invited to Oxford for the interviews, but he admits to not doing well in them.
