William Dalrymple’s The Anarchy to be adapted by Siddharth Roy Kapur as web series

Writer and historian William Dalrymple’s book The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company is set to be adapted by Siddharth Roy Kapur as a web series after his production house Roy Kapur Films (RKF) acquired the rights.

The book, recounting the period from 1599 to 1802, traces the rise of the East India Company in the backdrop of the crumbling Mughal Empire.

The filmmaker has clearly put forth the aim of constructing a series which is “pathbreaking in scale and quality”.

Kapur said in a statement:

”I believe that stories that are compelling, relevant and authentic have the potential to resonate with audiences across all nationalities and cultures. William Dalrymple’s epic tale of The East India Company is one such story.”

He added that the discussion on bringing the characters, who have been a part of his life for the last six years, has already begun.

“It’s an incredibly exciting moment and I have high expectations of this project,” he stated.

The author posted also shared a tweet on who could play the different characters from The Anarchy:
