Tania: Dil Dosti Dilemma character explained

In Dil Dosti Dilemma, Tania, played by Elisha Mayor, is one of Asmara’s friends, who takes it upon herself to mend her parents’ relationship.

Like her best friends Asmara and Naina, Tania is also classist. Unaware of her privilege, she fails to respect those who are not as wealthy as her family.

Tania’s mother, Nandini, is a lawyer, and her father, AB, owns a marketing agency. Tania can do nothing as her parents’ relationship worsens with each passing day.

They no longer talk to each other and grow distant, causing Tania to worry. However, Tania never shares her problems with her friends.

She leads them to believe that her parents are still very much in love with each other to maintain the facade of a perfect life.

Making mistakes

One night, Tania sees her father carrying a woman’s undergarments when he comes home late at night, which results in Tania suspecting him of having an affair with his colleague, Mandy.

To find out whether she is right about her father and Mandy, she starts interning at her father’s firm under Mandy and meets Dhruv, a fellow intern.

Tania does not get along with Mandy or respect her. Tania is not interested in learning from Mandy or working.

On the other hand, Dhruv is eager to learn. He manages to make Tania trust him and share her problems with him.

Later, when Tania finds out that her mother has been lying to her about her whereabouts, she asks for Dhruv’s help.

She asks him to spy on her mother, and Dhruv agrees to help. He finds out that Tania’s mother is having an affair with a man who turns out to be Dhruv’s neighbor.

Dhruv and Tania follow them together. Whenever Dhruv objects to Tania’s plans, she rudely dismisses him, disregarding his opinion.

Despite this, Dhruv continues to do as Tania says because he understands that she is going through a hard time.

Much to Tania’s relief, she discovers that her father never cheated on her mother. She now decides to find out whether her mother is serious about her boyfriend.

She makes Dhruv leave his assignment to spy on her mother’s boyfriend, which leads to Dhruv getting fired.

Tania, who is unaware that Dhruv has lost his job, easily dismisses her mother’s affair as a mid-life crisis when Dhruv shows her pictures of the man’s house.

Tania views her mother’s boyfriend as inconsequential because he is a middle-class man, without realizing that her attitude is also insulting to Dhruv.

Changing for the better

Dhruv can no longer tolerate being treated as a doormat by Tania, so he confronts her about her selfish and classist behavior.

Losing Dhruv makes Tania realize that she has developed feelings for him. Feeling lonely and guilty, Tania finally opens up and shares her problems with her friends.

She then tries to do the right thing by confronting her mother, who is unhappy in her marriage because she believes that AB is having an affair, as Tania did.

While Tania manages to get her parents to discuss their problems and bring them closer, she fails to earn Dhruv’s forgiveness.

Tania changes and becomes a better person. She accepts Asmara’s new friends and her maternal family despite their different social backgrounds.

She then diverts her time and energy to helping Asmara save Tibbri Road. She even gets her parents involved and manages to save the homes of several people with her friends.
