Thomas M. Wright’s ‘The Stranger’ to get a Netflix release

After its debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year, Thomas M. Wright’s independant film ‘The Stranger’ will have its global premiere on Netflix in October.

The film is based on the actual story of of one of the largest investigations and undercover operations in Australia. It revolves around two strangers who bond over conversations during a long journey.

The catch is, one of them is a suspect in an unsolved missing person’s case while the other is an undercover agent tracking him.

‘The Stranger’ stars Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris in the lead and has been produced by See-Saw Films, Anonymous Content and Blue Tongue Films.

Talking about the project, Wright said, “With The Stranger, I wanted to make a psychological crime film that took audiences into a place that was hidden — a film that was authentic and realistic in its detail, but also immersive and cinematic. A film that demanded attention and investment. A film that an audience could lean into — and fall into”.

‘The Stranger’ will release theatrically in Australia before debuting on Netflix worldwide in October. The film also premiered in Australia at the Melbourne International Film Festival on August 5.
