Netflix and Nico Moolenaar sign creative partnership deal

Netflix has announced that it has signed a creative partnership deal with Belgian-Dutch creator Nico Moolenaar. The screenwriter and producer is responsible for acclaimed series like ‘Ferry‘ and ‘Undercover‘.

‘Undercover’ was the most watched series in the Netherlands when it was released in 2019. This deal will see Moolenaar produce new series exclusive for the streamer.

Antoinette Beumer, Director Local Language Originals Benelux at Netflix said, “This will be the first local creative partnership deal with a screenwriter in the Benelux and underlines our ambition to bring more local content to the region.

“Having witnessed Nico’s magic whilst collaborating on Undercover and Ferry, we’re already aware of his great talent for turning stories into hits. We’re looking forward to working with Nico and the team to bring their shows to our members in the Benelux and beyond.”

Adding to this, Moolenaar said, “I am immensely proud of this creative partnership deal with Netflix. After three seasons of Undercover and two Ferry spin-offs, it feels like the logical new step in my career. Netflix’s enormous reach and limitless ambition is unparalleled and inspiring.

“I am grateful for the trust I receive from the Netflix team and look forward to working with them to create new stories and characters to take the world by storm. I am also very excited to bring my longtime partners in crime Piet Matthys and Bart Uytdenhouwen on board to join me on this adventure.”
