‘Call Me Chihiro’ to release on Netflix in 2023

The streamer has released a short teaser for its upcoming Japanese film titled, ‘Call me Chihiro’. It will stream worldwide on Netflix and at the Musashino-kan Shinjuku theater from February 23, 2023.

‘Call Me Chihiro’ is based on Hiroyuki Yasuda’s manga ‘Chihiro-san’, published in the manga magazine Elegance Eve from 2013 to 2018. It chronicles the story of the titular character who works at a small bento shop in a seaside town.

However, what makes her unique is her past as a sex worker. She uses her experiences to interact with people whose mental scars and struggles have left them with a melancholic life. With her words and actions, she aspires to be the guardian angel that influences them into a happier existence.

The film will be directed by Rikiya Imaizumi (Just Only Love, His, and Little Nights, Little Love) and star Kasumi Arimura in the lead. It will be co-produced by Netflix and Asmik Ace.
