Ek ladka, Ek ladki and a taxi on the run. Zee Studios released the trailer for its upcoming “desi” entertainer, Khaali Peeli, on Tuesday. The film stars Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday in the lead alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
Helmed by Maqbool Khan, the film is set for a digital release on October 2. Written by Sima Aggarwal and Yash Keswani, the project has been co-produced by Ali Abbas Zafar and Zee Studios.
The official description of the film reads: “PUBLIC… Aa gaya hai full dhamaal trailer! Toh abb, no place to run… Nowhere to hide. Ready rehneka for a mad ride!”
Promising a crazy, “mad ride”, Khaali Peeli kick-starts one night, following a taxi driver, Blackie’s (Khatter) fateful encounter with a dancer on the run. Ananya Panday plays the role of the dancer at large, after having robbed her clients of their money.
The trailer carries all the elements native to a Bollywood Masala with dance sequences and kaleidoscopic energy. Panday can be seen outside her niche as a cheerful, fearless, candid girl who is joined in her notorious endeavours by Khatter.
Talking about Khaali Peeli, the debutant director said in a statement:
“It’s been a pleasure working with Ishaan & Ananya—two powerhouses who have given fantastic performances! Khaali Peeli is a young, edgy, mad roller-coaster ride that I hope the audiences will enjoy thoroughly!”
The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12. However, due to COVID restrictions the premiere was shifted to ZEE Studio’s latest pay-per-view service, Zee Plex.
