WarnerMedia’s streaming platform HBO Max is all set to create a web series based on DC Universe’s (DCU) ongoing comic books Justice League Dark.
The web series will be produced by Bad Robot – the production company of JJ Abrams. Abrams is the man behind Hollywood hits like Mission:Impossible (Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation), Star Trek Beyond, Star Wars (episode VII and VIII) amongst others.
It has not been announced if Abrams will be involved in the writing process for Justice League Dark or which of the characters will be part of the web series.
As per the comics, important members include John Constantine, Deadman, Doctor Mist, Swamp Thing and Madame Xanadu amongst others.
Along with Justice League Dark, Abrams and his wife and business partner Katie McGrath will also be creating there other projects – Outlook, Duster and a spinoff of The Shining.
Outlook will be a 10-episode dramatic mini-series. Whereas Duster, on the other hand, will focus on the life and events of a getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate set in the 1970s.
Duster will be co-written by Abrams himself.
DCU’s other projects with HBO Max include an untitled Green Lantern series, an Aquaman animated miniseries and an adaptation of Strange Adventures.
Based on the comics, WB also adapted the story of John Constantine – the man who has literally been to hell and back – in the Keanu Reeves led theatrical release Constantine.
