Doctor Sleep: Stephen King adaptation on Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is set to release Doctor Sleep, a 2019 American horror film adapted from Stephen King’s novel, from May 17 onwards.

A sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep is set decades after the initial events of the prequel combing terrifying elements from the 1977 novel.

Danny Torrance (Ewan Gordon McGregor) is the protagonist with psychic abilities, his shining, and bag-load of childhood trauma. He features as an alcoholic in the sequel.

After warding off ghosts feeding on “his shining” in his childhood, Danny, a mid-aged alcoholic, steals from his mother and moves to a small New Hampshire town attempting to live a normal life all while suppressing his alluring shining.

Doctor Sleep revolves around Danny protecting a psychic teenager, Abra Stone (Kyliegh Curran), from a cult of psychic vampires, the True Knot.

Directed by Mike Flanagan and produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film features Rebecca Ferguson and Cliff Curtis in thrilling roles.
