Bridgerton season 2 has become the most-watched English series on Netflix of all time according to its top 10 list. It takes into account the watch hours in first 28 days.
With 627.11 million watch hours, it has overtaken the season 1 of the franchise, which held that position since its release.
Other popular titles such as seasons 1 and 2 of The Witcher, Inventing Anna, Stranger Things season 3, Maid, and You season 3 also make up the list.
Bridgerton season 2, which recently smashes the weekly record as well, revolves around the oldest brother, Anthony Bridgerton, and his relationship with Kate Sharma, which turns from bickering to love over the course of the season.
While talking about their equation and the Pall Mall scene in season2, Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma in the series, told The Movie Culture:
“It was really fun, we basically played it in real life, so there was a lot of screaming. They’re both very sporty people; he fences, she’s a great rider, and they’re both incredibly competitive. The Pall Mall game forces them to play and get out of their duties as the older siblings; forget about their responsibilities and to just play with one another.
“That’s when they find these moments of laughter, and falling in the mud, and finding common cause. And that’s annoying when you’re like, ‘Oh, I actually really don’t like you, but you’re making me laugh and loosen up.’ They’re forced to let go.”
The franchise has already been renewed for seasons 3 and 4, which will follow the Bridgerton siblings Benedict and Colin, respectively. There’s also a spin-off on Queen Charlotte also in the works.
The record could be already under threat in the coming month, with the much-anticipated release of Stranger Things season 4.
