Netflix has announced that Bridgerton season 2 has broken the Netflix record for the most viewed title on the list of English TV in a single week of streaming, taking the crown with an astounding 251.74 million hours viewed.
It surpassed the previous title holder, ‘Inventing Anna’, which tallied nearly 196 million hours in its own first week on the platform.
The Shondaland-produced series was also in the Top 10 in 93 countries. Not only did Bridgerton season 2 hold such accolade, but Bridgerton season 1 was the number two series on Netflix last week.
Season 1 accumulated a viewing duration of 53 million hours as Bridgerton fans waited for the next season to unravel.
While season 1 focused on the passionate dynamic between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), its sophomore run shifts the focus on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his enemies-to-lovers trope, involving Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). All the while, Lady Whistledown recommences passing judgement on all the matters and scandals of the Ton.
