Yoon Jung-won: Gyeongseong Creature character explained

Yoon Jung-won, Chae-ok’s father, has been looking for his missing wife for a decade now. In Gyeongseong Creature, Jo Han-chul plays Jung-won.

Jung-won is a sleuth whose wife, Seong-sim or Seishin, went missing 10 years ago. Jung-won is still looking for her with his daughter.

While looking for Seishin, Jung-won and Chae-ok keep taking missing person cases to make money, and they are quite good at what they do.

Trusting Tae-sang

When Jung-won and Chae-ok come to know that Sachimoto had met Seishin and is living in Gyeongseong, they come to Gyeongseong, where they meet Tae-sang.

Tae-sang is willing to help them locate Sachimoto if they agree to find Myeong-ja for him.

As Chae-ok is reluctant to make a deal with Tae-sang, Jung-won asks Tae-sang whether he is a good man or not, and Tae-sang replies that he is a man who wants to survive.

Jung-won determines that Tae-sang is a good person and decides to trust him, even though his daughter does not agree with his decision.

At the hospital, when Tae-sang risks his all to save the other prisoners, Jung-won realizes that he was right about Tae-sang being trustworthy.

He knew that when the time came, Tae-sang would do right by their people, despite Tae-sang claiming otherwise.

Discovering the truth

After successfully leaving the hospital, Jung-won wishes to return home with Chae-ok, as they have completed their task of finding Myeong-ja.

Chae-ok then tells her father that she found Seishin. Jung-won does not feel relieved to know that his wife is alive when he is told what happened to her.

Jung-won comes to know that Seishin was subjected to experiments and has been turned into a monster. He had encountered her but failed to recognize her.

The news devastates him, and Jung-won decides to go back to the hospital to be with his wife. He leaves behind a letter to inform his daughter of the same.

Kato takes Jung-won to see Seishin, and Jung-won is heartbroken and angry to see that his wife has turned into a monstrous creature that kills humans without hesitation.

Last wishes

After seeing his wife, Jung-won is captured by the soldiers and kept in a prison cell, but it does not take him long to escape.

He then runs into Tae-sang, who tells him about his plan to blow up the hospital. Tae-sang also informs him that Chae-ok was brought back to the hospital.

Tae-sang gives Jung-won two tickets to Shanghai and asks him to take Chae-ok there once she is recused. However, Jung-won has other plans.

All these years, Jung-won has been living in the past. Due to that, Chae-ok could not move on either. Jung-won wanted Chae-ok to live her own life after completing this one last mission.

Now that their search has come to an end, Jung-won believes that Chae-ok can finally have a future with Tae-sang. He wants Tae-sang to protect Chae-ok.
