Vita Champion: Champion character explained

In Champion, Vita Champion is the younger sister of rapper Bosco Champion, who is seeking a career comeback. Déja J Bowens plays Vita.

Vita is the more talented sibling between her and Bosco. Since they were kids, Vita has often shown her far superior skills as a musician in front of Bosco.

Bosco just performs the songs that Vita writes. Without Vita’s skills as a songwriter, Bosco wouldn’t have had the career that he has now.

Their parents have encouraged Vita to always let Bosco have the limelight, and she has listened to them.

When Vita is not working for her brother, she is helping her mother at her restaurant.

Vita takes a step forward

When Bosco returns from prison, he fears getting back on the stage again. It’s Vita who has been there for him through thick and thin, and this time too, she helps him gather the courage.

However, Vita shows signs that she has grown sick of Bosco not acknowledging her and taking her for granted.

Vita’s best friend, Honey, instructs her to ask for what she wants. Initially, Vita only seeks to be Bosco’s manager, nothing more.

When Bosco once again leaves her hanging, Vita abandons him. Honey brings her an opportunity to work with Bosco’s rival, Bulla, and his manager, Mark, who is also the fiancé of Bosco’s ex-wife.

Vita is hesitant, but Bosco’s arrogance and his obliviousness to what she wants make her pursue her music career and finally do something for herself.

Bosco is not happy that she is working with his enemies, but she is done pleasing him.

Vita’s relationship with other characters

Though Vita has long faced neglect and has stayed in the shadow of her brother, she is quite forgiving by nature.

Vita’s own mother, Aria, at first, didn’t want Vita to pursue a career in music, considering her experience in the industry and the life she has lived.

Aria never sides with Vita when she is arguing with Bosco. Aria only goes to fix things with Vita when Beres tells her to.

Vita quickly forgives her mother and also understands her once she gets to know her story. Quite similarly, Vita also forgives her best friend, Honey, for everything she has done.

Vita and Aria have a hear-to-heart conversation

Vita dated Memet, Bosco’s best friend. However, things changed quite quickly between them when Bosco and Vita began butting heads.

Vita and Memet end things between them, and Vita starts dating Laurent, a sound engineer whom she meets while working for Mark.

Vita and Laurent break up the moment Vita confesses that she can’t spend more time with him.

Lastly, Bosco and Vita may have been rivals all season. In the end, when Vita is having a panic attack right before a performance, her brother shows up to support her, having been in her shoes before.

Much like how the season opened with Vita comforting Bosco, this time around, Bosco shows up to assure Vita that he is there for her.

Vita’s successful career

Vita paves the way for a successful music career ahead. However, it comes with several bumps along the way.

Vita comes to understand that, with the talent that she has, not everyone is going to be by her side.

She accepts the harsh realities of the industry and, for a change, decides to be selfish. However, she never surrenders and tries to become the image that the industry wants her to be.

Being sincere and herself in her songs is what makes her popular and successful in the first place.

Working with Mark, especially, comes at the cost of her relationships with others. Parting ways with Mark is also a decision that she makes to do what she wants to do and for the people who actually care for her.

The season ends for Vita with a successful career, winning the Best Newcomer Award at an award function.
