The plot of Sand Land: The Series explained

Sand Land: The series is a sci-fi action adventure anime series that is set in a post-apocalyptic world where water is most precious and is kept from the citizens by the greedy king.

An unlikely trio of a human and two fiends traverse the apocalyptic barren wastelands in search of a legendary lake so that they can secure water for their people that has been robbed from them by the greedy king.

Sand Land: Origins

Fifty years ago, the entire world turned into a desert. What followed was wars between humans in desperate attempts to acquire water.

The rains ceased, followed by rivers that began drying up, and even the wells in the villages exceedingly ran dry.

There was only one source of water that remained. It is a source that is controlled by the King.

Water is a highly-priced, exceedingly rare commodity that the people in remote parts get once in a blue moon.

The few bottles and containers that do get sent there, run the risk of getting robbed by gangs and bandits, and sometimes demons.

The trio

Sheriff Rao from a remote town gets bombarded by requests from the town folk, who grow extremely worried about all the wells drying up.

They are not left with any water for themselves, much less any to give to their pets and cattle.

Rao learns that a demon gave one of the kids some water bottles, and heads off to the village of demons. He finds Beelzebub, aka the Fiend Prince, who is the one who gave water to that kid.

Beelzebub and his demons don’t take well to humans, but Sheriff Rao is different. He asks for their help in finding a legendary lake he believes exists somewhere in Sand Land.

Beelzebub agrees after he is offered a great video game by Rao. He then visits his father, the demon king Lucifer, to ask for his permission, and he’s granted that.

He recruits Thief, an old demon who’s a crafty one with great thieving skills, to join them on the journey. The unlikely trio heads off and meets a great many perils along the way.

The antagonists

The king that rules the Sand Land is an oafish little brat who mostly keeps up appearances and enjoys an extremely lavish life, with all the water at his expense and even a swimming pool of his own.

All the real brainy stuff is handled and overseen by the Supreme Commander of the Royal Army, Zeu. At his helm, the army has managed to keep the citizens away from their source of water.

The King holds the monopoly on water because he owns a vast source of it, which is heavily guarded by the army and is kept inaccessible from the citizens of Sand Land.

On their journey to find the legendary lake, Rao, Beelzebub, and Thief end up getting in the crosshairs of the Royal Army’s transportation of water.

A chase and a battle ensue, followed by revelations and double-crosses that all lead to a climactic showdown with the big villain.

At stake is the King’s source of water, which can provide all of Sand Land the water it has been robbed of for so long.
