Thaedus: Invincible season 2 character explained

Thaedus is the founder and leader of the Coalition of Planets who heads their resistance against the Viltrumite Empire. Peter Cullen voices the character.

Thaedus founded the Coalition of Planets to stand against the growing influence of the Viltrumites in the galaxy and offer planets a way to defend themselves against invasion.

Thaedus invites the Unopans to join the Coalition after observing their exceptional will to survive after being subdued by just a handful of Viltrumites. Although the breeding program was a failure, Thaedus still appreciated Allen’s value and made him an evaluation officer.

When Allen returns with news of Mark Grayson and how he fought his own father, Thaedus remarks that the last time two Viltrumites fought each other was during the “Great Purge”.

He is the only one who considers Mark a potential ally and supports the notion of seeking other hybrid offspring of Viltrumites to join their cause against their parents.

A secret mission

Telia informs Allen that Viltrumites attacked the planet Aikreon while he was away, and Allen is surprised by the news since Aikreon had just joined the Coalition.

Thaedus also considers this particularly concerning and entrusts Allen with finding a possible mole within the council who could have let the Viltrumites know about their dealings.

Thaedus: Invincible season 2 character explained 1
Thaedus had a lot of trust in Allen

When Allen is recovering in a stasis chamber following a barbarous battle with some Viltrumites, Thaedus approaches and shuts down his life support, revealing potentially nefarious motivations for his character.

In the comics

Thaedus is actually a Viltrumite defector who did not agree with his people’s methods and chose to start the Coalition of Planets to stand up against the tyrannical actions of his race.

In the comics, Thaedus observes Allen during his recovery and points out that Allen actually became stronger following his battle with the Viltrumites.
