In Jack Ryan season 4, Soe Wai works for Chao Fah Sein and is also his brother-in-law. Robert Ristic plays Soe Wai.
Apart from being a part of Chao Fah Sein’s family, Soe Wai is a loyal soldier who protects Chao Fah Sein and adheres to his orders. However, Chao Fah Sein sees Soe Wai as someone simple.
Chao Fah believes that being simple makes Soe Wai dangerous. Though Kyi, Chao Fah’s wife and Soe Wai’s sister, claims that all Soe Wai wants is her well-being, Chao Fah keeps Soe Wai in the dark about his plan to get out of the Silver Lotus Triad and end this organization once and for all.
Soe Wai proves that he is not as simple as Chao Fah thinks. He starts questioning Chao Fah’s unusual behavior and the animosity between Chao Fah and Tin Tun, eventually getting to the truth.
Soe Wai’s death
After watching Chao Fah and Tin Tun bicker again, Soe Wai’s suspicions grow. He once again tries to talk to Chao Fah. He reminds Chao Fah that he might be his brother-in-law and boss, but his sister matters to him the most.
Chao Fah continues to act like everything is alright, unaware that Soe Wai is investigating. Soe Wai checks into the CCTV footage of Chao Fah’s residence and learns that his sister, Kyi, and her daughter, Bennu, left home the day they were in Mexico.
Soe Wai takes Chao Fah to a place alone in the car. He lets him know that he is not stupid and that he is aware of Chao Fah’s plan.
Soe Wai is ready to let Chao Fah go. However, Kyi and Bennu will stay here with him. Chao Fah offers to take him with them, but Soe Wai stays adamant. He says he knows where they come from. Between the girls they are smuggling and his sister, he chooses Kyi.
Chao Fah realizes that he can’t bring Soe Wai on his side and that he is a threat to him. Chao Fah assures him that they can do things his way, but moments later, he shoots him to death.
Tin Tun has been long suspecting Chao Fah. To win back Tin Tun’s trust, Chao Fah presents Soe Wai’s body to him and calls Soe Wai the traitor who has been working against them.
