Shams: AlRawabi School for Girls season 2 character explained

In AlRawabi School for Girls season 2, Shams is a student at AlRawabi who is also an aspiring filmmaker. Thalia Alansari plays Shams.

Shams is a student in the same class as Sarah. She is also one of those who is bullied by the likes of Hiba and Tasneem.

By nature, Shams is quite practical and lives a lonely life. Many students at the school find her very weird, and it comes as a surprise to them when they find out she is Omar’s sister.

Shams’ passion and her struggles

Shams is driven by her passion for filmmaking. She always carries a camera around and intends to present a film at the end-of-year celebrations.

After watching how Sarah became popular overnight, Shams decides to document Sarah’s downfall, which she believes is imminent.

However, this passion of Shams also sees her crossing boundaries at times. She installs surveillance cameras in the school without permission to capture every other person.

Shams watches Tasneem and her group destroy posters of the students competing in the student council election

This move of hers helps Nadeen prove that she didn’t destroy the posters of other candidates who are competing in the student council election.

However, Nadeen is disappointed when she learns that Shams was behind this. Omar says that Shams has a past of doing things like this.

Shams is also deprived of friends. Some of the friends she made only sought closeness with her to also befriend Omar.

Hence, Shams doesn’t enjoy seeing Nadeen get close to Omar. It hurts Shams when Nadeen distances herself from Shams when Omar asks her about being with Shams in her plan and Nadeen thinks twice before saying no.

Shams’ documentary

Even after the whole debacle involving Sarah, Shams keeps working on her documentary, which Nadeen thinks is not appropriate.

Shams even meets Sarah for the film. To protect her best friend from facing any more hardships, Nadeen, along with Tasneem, breaks into Shams’ room and deletes Shams’ film.

Despite Nadeen’s efforts, Shams screens her documentary at a special event at AlRawabi, using a backup.

The documentary ends up being the opposite of what Nadeen thought. The eye-opening film exposes the dark side of social media and the popular personalities whose lives the students want to replicate.

When the documentary is stopped midway as Sarah’s story and her video come on screen, Head Teacher Farida Alahmad promises to take action against it but lets it play as it sheds light on an important issue.

Sarah takes the stage to explain why she decided to share her story. Unfortunately, Shams’ film fails to save Farah, who has long suffered because of her urge to be among popular people.

Farah kills herself, embarrassed by her videos in the film and people laughing at her, without watching the film to the finish and understanding the purpose of it.
