Sami Kierce’s illness in Fool Me Once explained

In Fool Me Once, Sami Kierce suffers from strange symptoms that threaten not only his career but his life.

At the start of the series, Sami Kierce begins experiencing blackouts that even cause a minor accident.

Sami ignores them, but his condition keeps getting worse, with him facing other symptoms such as temporary paralysis.

The illness and its cause

When Kierce eventually does get tested, he is told that his brain isn’t working as it should be, with symptoms progressively getting worse.

The MRI and EEG show damage to the brain. The doctors aren’t able to identify the cause.

The fear and concern for Molly, his fiancée, and their unborn child even drive Kierce to suicide.

It’s when Kierce learns about Burkett Global Enterprises’ medical trial fixing and their selling of dangerous drugs that he realizes that he is a victim of Burketts’ corruption.

The Burketts are selling these drugs through their company, Lambur Pharma. Corey the Whistle says that they pride themselves on the minimal side effects of the drugs.

They say 99.6% of their patients experience mild to zero side effects, which is not true. Furthermore, they silence the patients with severe reactions.

Kierce’s drugs

Kierce has been taking Lambur Pharma’s drugs that are responsible for symptoms such as hallucinations, suicide attempts, and blackouts.

Kierce suffered from all three of these side effects. The hallucination part involved him seeing his ex-fiancée, Nicole, from time to time.

Kierce’s fate

To get back at the Burketts, Kierce allows Maya to walk free, despite finding out that Maya has killed Joe, so that she can move along with her plan to expose the Burketts.

Maya dies, but she successfully gets the Burketts to admit their crimes live on social media through her hidden nanny cam.

18 years into the future, Kierce is seen visiting Maya’s daughter, Lily, who has given birth. He looks better, which suggests that the effects of Lambur Pharma’s medicines may have faded away with time.
