Paper: Ready, Set, Love character explained

Paper, played by Chayapak Tunprayoon, gets to know himself better and understands the meaning of freedom once he finds out about life outside The Farm.

Paper is a Gentleman, which means that when Ready, Set, Love ends, he will have to marry the contestant who chooses him.

As he has spent his life on The Farm and knows nothing about the world outside, he has never had a chance to explore his sexuality.

He has never been attracted to a woman and remains uncertain about what he truly wants.

The question of identity and freedom

Paper’s first date is with Bovy, who shares his love for music. She tells him about a radio broadcast that is not known to many people.

Paper tunes in to CG Radio Station and comes to know about an artist named Chun, a man who does not live on The Farm.

Chun’s music resonates with Paper so deeply that he reaches out to him on social media. To his surprise, Chun replies.

Chun suggests that Paper visit him to get to know him better. However, Paper cannot leave The Farm. He will have to break the rules to step outside.

Unlike Chun, Paper does not know anything about life outside The Farm. He has obediently followed all the rules without considering what lies beyond The Farm.

Hence, he does not know what it means to be free. It is Chun who encourages Paper to explore the world outside The Farm.

Paper confides in Bovy about his conversation with Chun. Paper likes both Bovy and Chun, but when Bovy kisses him, he realizes that he does not like her romantically.

Bovy then questions him about being attracted to men, prompting Paper to sneak out and meet Chun.

Gaining awareness

Chun tells Paper the truth about how all men end up on The Farm. Apart from The Farm’s dark secrets, he also tells him about City Ground’s work.

Once Paper becomes aware of how people lose their rights and families because of The Farm, he does not want to go back there, but he has no other choice.

He promises Chun that he will meet him again, which leads to him joining forces with Valentine, Day, Son, and Almond to expose The Farm’s truth.

When their plan fails, Paper is the most heartbroken. He is now aware of his lack of freedom more than ever before.

However, Valentine’s return gives Paper hope. This time, the group not only succeeds in exposing The Farm but also runs away from there.

Paper now knows what he wants: he wants to be with Chun. Instead of being forced to marry a woman, he is free to be with the man he likes.
