Prince Adam leads the forces of Eternia into the depths of Subternia, on a mission to reclaim the souls of their fallen comrades.
Following the devastation of Preternia, these lost souls, ensnared by Scare-Glow and subjected to his cruel whims, cried out for salvation.
Although Scare-Glow is vanquished and the souls liberated, their triumph is fleeting.
King Randor, weakened and faltering, reveals his dire state to Adam: organ failure has taken its toll.
Resigned to his fate, he beseeches Adam and Teela to allow him to pass peacefully, as mortality inevitably claims all.
In a poignant moment, Randor imparts a crucial decision upon Adam: the choice between the scepter of a king and the sword of a hero.
