Falling Star: Outer Range character explained

Falling Star is a fellow Native American and time traveler who helps Joy settle in the tribe.

When Joy finds herself taken in by the Shoshone people, one of them talks to her in English and seems to know that she’s from another time.

She introduces herself as Falling Star and says that she too came to 1882 from 1972 where she was a nurse.

She reveals a Led Zeppelin tattoo and says that the people thought she was a witch until one of the elders prophesied that she was sent there to help.

Falling Star: Outer Range character explained 1
She is Joy’s guiding hand through a difficult time

A liaison

Since Falling Star knew the language, she was able to negotiate with the American settlers who set up the town of Wabang.

They collected payment from Levi Sumner, Royal’s father who stayed on the edge of Shoshone territory with his family.

Falling Star told Joy that she fell through a hole which disappeared after she came out of it. She says that Joy needs to accept that she might not be going back home.

She was Joy’s closest ally in the four years that Joy spent becoming a part of the tribe. However, she suffered from cancer and was approaching her end.

She accepted her fate and hoped that Joy would take her place as the liaison, but Joy still held out a belief that she would return home one day.

Joy goes through the hole behind a young Royal, while Falling Star gathers her people to fight back against the settlers who came to attack them.
