Kang In-a: Goodbye Earth character explained

Kang In-a is a captain in the army who is close friends with Jin Se-Kyung. Kim Yoon-hye plays the character.

Kang In-a served in the Special Missions Unit but during the asteroid crisis, she disobeyed her commander’s orders to retreat and went after the rebel soldiers.

Her commander took the blame and she was transferred with a slap on the wrist to Woongcheon because it was her hometown.

There she had to oversee the security of the city and manage a squadron of soldiers with diminishing rations and almost no ammunitions.

She has a strong sense of justice and even though she wishes that Se-Kyung would keep out of trouble, she is ready to back her up when there is work to be done.

A capable leader

The army is encouraging voluntary discharges because they don’t have the means to support all of their troops.

In-a is put in a difficult position trying to motivate her people and deal with one of two bad eggs.

She digs into the brothels downtown and when that is taken down, she helps Se-Kyung look into the training center.

In-a didn’t have a good relationship with her mother, and that is partly because her mother was so religious and didn’t accept her sexual orientation.

Many soldiers in her company respect her because she is a fair leader who treats her people with the respect they deserve.

In the final months before the impact, Kang In-a finally decides to leave the army and go on a journey by herself.

She says goodbye to her friends and makes peace with her mother before leaving on a bike to anywhere.
