In Blood of Zeus, Priestess Gorgo is the only person Seraphim has ever truly loved, and for her sake, he agrees to be Hades’ pawn.
Gorgo, daughter of Solon from Kyllini, is a priestess of Artemis. She saves Seraphim’s life after finding him injured in the forest.
Seraphim is hiding from Acrisius and his sons, who are hunting him down. He meets Gorgo at a time when he has lost everyone in his life.
Alone and in pain, Seraphim meets Gorgo, who shows him kindness when he has come to expect none from the world.
Seraphim’s safe haven
Gorgo treats Seraphim’s wounds, and from that time onward, the two of them meet frequently. With Gorgo, Seraphim experiences a peace he has never known before.
Despite his attempts to stay away, Seraphim finds himself seeking out Gorgo, who becomes his safe haven. Eventually, they fall in love.
As Gorgo is a priestess, she cannot be with Seraphim, so she decides to abandon her vows and run away with him.
Gorgo is willing to sacrifice her honor as a priestess for Seraphim, but Seraphim is not prepared to make a similar sacrifice.
Two days before their planned escape, Seraphim finds the man who killed his adoptive mother. Gorgo pleads with Seraphim to let go of his past and not allow his hatred to consume him.
However, Seraphim ignores her pleas and takes his revenge by killing the man. He succeeds but is then forced to consume Giant remains to survive.
Gorgo’s death
Seraphim does not show up on the day he is supposed to leave with Gorgo. Instead, Gorgo encounters the tree bender killing a man who failed to answer his riddle.
She strikes a bargain with the tree bender: if she answers his riddle correctly, she wants him to let her and the stranger go. If she fails, the tree bender will kill them both.
Gorgo selflessly tries to save the stranger’s life, even if it means risking her own. However, the tree bender does not keep his word.
Despite Gorgo answering the riddle correctly, he kills both her and the man. Seraphim searches for her later, but it is too late by then.
In death, Gorgo becomes one of those wraiths who cannot cross over to the world of the dead. She has still not found peace.
To end her suffering, Seraphim promises to do Hades’ bidding in exchange for giving her water from the Lethe, which will erase her memories of Seraphim and the pain he caused her.
Regretting his past actions, Seraphim does everything in his power to bring peace to Gorgo, and he manages to get the water from the Lethe from Hades.
Seraphim’s love for Gorgo is recognized as his only redeeming quality when he faces judgment in the Underworld after his death.
