Ruby Bell: Maxton Hall character explained

Ruby Bell is a student at Maxton Hall who dreams of getting into Oxford. Harriet Herbig-Matten plays the character.

Unlike most other students at Maxton Hall, Ruby Bell earned her place by studying hard and putting in the work.

She wishes to get into Oxford on a scholarship, and going through Maxton Hall would do wonders for her chances.

She plans to get a recommendation from one of the faculty, but when she catches them hooking up with a student, she has to move to plan B.

She’s also focused on saving up money to buy a new chairlift for their house to help her father.

Ruby has to balance multiple plates in her goal of getting into Oxford, and James Beaufort becomes yet another obstacle.

She had Lin Wang by her side to support her, since Lin’s family business went bust the previous summer, making her a pariah among the elite.

Enemies to lovers

Ruby took on a leadership role in the event planning committee to improve her extracurriculars and Principal Lexington challenged her to organize a great event for his recommendation.

She is forced to work with James after his prank during the welcome party for new students, but they warm up to each other gradually.

Mortimer is very dismissive of Ruby Bell

Ruby’s unique outlook on life changes James for the better, but his father keeps him from going after what he truly wants.

She’s caught up in his drama even though she barely has a say. She does succeed with James’ help and gets a recommendation letter for Oxford.

However, things get frosty between her and James and they only improve once again when James comes clean during the Oxford interviews.

Things are looking up for Ruby, but she doesn’t know about the difficulties that James is facing.
