Jeong Su-Min: Marry My Husband character explained

Jeong Su-Min is one of the primary antagonists in the revenge fantasy drama, Marry My Husband. Song Ha-Yoon plays the villain in the Kdrama.

Jeong Su-Min has been a parasitic affliction to Ji-Won’s life since their childhood, leeching off her and snatching from her everything and everyone she suspected would bring her happiness.

When Ji-Won gets a chance to relive her life and secure her happiness, Su-Min has to contend with unexpected resistance and challenges to her psychopathic tendencies and conspiracies.

Childhood

Kang Ji-Won’s mother left her and her father for another man, who was none other than Jeong Su-Min’s father, who left his family too.

Su-Min didn’t really get along with her mother and sought her father’s presence and care, but he didn’t care for her much.

It made her sad and angry. When she learns that the woman he’s having an affair with is the mother of Kang Ji-Won, she is drawn to her.

She saw how Kang Ji-Won was still happy, even when her mother left her because her father loved her a lot.

This gave birth to extreme jealousy and vendetta against Ji-Won inside Su-Min.

She deemed it unfair how Ji-Won was always so clueless about stuff and remained happy, while she wasn’t.

She soon used deception and tricks to become Ji-Won’s best friend.

The parasitic soulmate

She then went on to remain Ji-Won’s one and only best friend throughout the school and beyond.

She made Ji-Won believe that she really cared for her, while always using manipulation and lies to make others hate and bully her.

Jeong Su-Min would gift her cheap knock-off versions of popular jewelry that she would get for herself, and then trick her into being shamed by others at the school reunion for it.

She forged Ji-Won’s handwriting to forge a reply to her crush’s love letter, rejecting him brutally, which made him hate Ji-Won, who remained clueless and heartbroken.

As an adult, Jeong Su-Min kept tormenting Ji-Won while making herself appear as her well-wishing best friend.

The affair & true colors

She goes on to have an affair with her boyfriend Park Min-Hwan, when he becomes her husband.

She keeps sleeping with him while Ji-Won’s stress and anxieties make her terminally ill.

While she’s about to die from cancer, she discovers Su-Min and Min-Hwan’s affair. Su-Min finally shows her true colors to Ji-Won, telling her to just die and saying she’s so selfish.

Ji-Won does die and then travels back in time ten years. Ji-Won begins undoing all the injustice and mistreatment she received at the hands of Su-Min.

A new Ji-Won

Jeon Su-Min is surprised and shocked each time she fails to deal an effective blow to Ji-Won, and every time she thinks she has, she soon finds that the opposite is true.

After failing to ruin Ji-Won’s professional life, she tries to snatch away her personal life’s happy parts. She starts an affair with Min-Hwan.

Eventually, she marries him too, thinking she’s won and taken away from Ji-Won who brought her happiness.

However, that’s exactly what Ji-Won wanted, as Min-Hwan is her trash, not treasure.

The last straw

After failing to make Ji-Won’s life miserable, she decides to end her life. After her father fails to do so, Jeong Su-MIn takes it upon herself.

She also collects evidence against Oh Yu-Ra, who is sleeping with Min-Hwan and orders him to kill Su-Min’s parents.

Min-Hwan comes to kill Su-Min, so he can claim insurance money and also get rid of Yu-Ra’s thorn, which works out for the both of them.

Yu-Ra helps him out with the setup but Su-Min manages to save herself and kill Min-Hwan.

She next comes for Ji-Won. She plans to kill her by tying her up as she burns her room with the thinner she buys from a shop while on the run from the authorities.

Repercussions

However, Kang Ji-Won, who has been learning martial arts from Yu Ji-Hyuk, employs her skills to easily pin Su-Min down.

Before that, Su-Min announces and recaps her evil deeds and plans, which get recorded for the authorities who are standing outside the room as all of this transpires.

She’s swiftly arrested and ultimately sent to jail.

Marry My Husband concludes with Jeong Su-Min in a rough state at the prison, riddled with nightmares and worked up about Ji-Won constantly.
