In-hwan Tak: Sweet Home season 2 character explained

In the second season of Sweet Home, humans who have survived monsterization are saved by Master Sergeant Tak, who then becomes their leader. In-hwan Tak is played by Yoo Oh-Seong.

As humans start turning into monsters, the military is tasked with eliminating the monsters that threaten human existence. While some soldiers recklessly and cruelly kill people to save their own lives, others risk everything to save the survivors.

The soldiers of the Crow Platoon, which is led by Master Sergeant In-hwan Tak, find and fight the monsters to rescue people. Tak is so determined to eliminate the threat that he makes his men work tirelessly until they are on the verge of collapsing from their injuries, lack of rest, and hunger.

Saving humanity

Tak is rumored to have killed his own family, but it is hard to believe those rumors when he refuses to kill anyone unless it is absolutely necessary, even if it is a monster. He does not let his men kill a baby monster because it cannot hurt anyone.

Tak’s men respect him, and that is why they follow his orders without opposing him. However, since the Crow Platoon was formed recently, there are some soldiers, like Sergeant Kim, who question his judgment time and time again.

When Tak finds out about the prime minister’s plan to kill all survivors so as to leave no possibility of any more humans turning into monsters, Tak takes the Crow Platoon to stop the attack and destroy the Bamseom Bureau. In the ensuing military coup, they kill the prime minister, who himself turns into a monster.

While numerous survivors are killed in the attack, Tak manages to save some. He moves the survivors underground. The Crow Platoon provides the survivors with protection and supplies. In return, they are expected to follow the rules established by Tak.

Keeping secrets

Tak believes in giving people hope. He risks his life to save Jun-il’s mother, even though she has been infected. He then decides to isolate her instead of killing her, as he wants people to believe that they will not be killed even if they turn into monsters.

He also gives Dr. Lim a lab to make everyone think that they might get vaccines one day. Giving hope to people becomes so important to him that he starts keeping important information from them and his own men. He does not tell anyone the truth about Jun-il’s death.

Keeping the haven that he has created from falling apart matters the most to Tak, and he thinks that it cannot be done without him. Using this belief, Lim convinces Tak, who has PTSD, to make a deal with him. Lim cannot treat monsterization, but he promises to turn Tak into a special infectee.
