Ida Heilman: Anthracite character explained

In Anthracite, Ida Heilman comes to Lévionna in search of her father, Solal. Noémie Schmidt plays Ida.

Ida Heilman is a collective digital investigator. She calls her investigations web-sleuthing. She has a forum called iData, where many of her followers assist her in her investigations.

Ida is adept at using the internet to conduct investigations and knows how to dig up information on someone or something, even when a person or an organization is strictly private.

Her followers, whom she calls her sleuths, come from around the world and are always a big help.

Ida is not used to socializing in real time and is often nervous when talking to new people. Despite that, she is bent on searching for her father, Solal, who seems to have been kidnapped.

Ida’s sickness and parentage

Solal raised Ida all his life. Ida doesn’t find out about her mother until she sees a video of Solal interviewing Juliette, Jaro’s mother, in which Juliette gives birth to a baby girl who is none other than Ida.

Juliette had rejected Ida moments after giving birth to her. Solal witnessed the birth and decided to adopt Ida.

Now, Ida is suffering from leukemia and has stopped going to chemotherapy. The reason Solal comes back to Lévionna is to meet Caleb, who can be a match for Ida for the transplant that she needs because it is suspected that Caleb is Ida’s father.

Juliette visited Caleb often, which suggests that he is her father. However, the gene maps of Caleb and Ida indicate that Caleb cannot be her father.

Ida’s real father and her fate

Ida’s father is revealed to Claude, Jaro’s uncle. An audio tape containing a conversation between Juliette and Roxane discloses that Claude used to hurt Juliette.

In the finale of Anthracite, Claude admits that he raped his sister. Jaro almost beats him to death before the arrival of Ida there.

While what Claude did comes as a shock, Ida will survive her leukemia. Jaro reveals that he is a match for Ida, and she can go through a transplant now.

Following everything that transpired at Lévionna, Ida moves on. She assists a film crew in finishing her father’s documentary on the Écrins cult. Her adventures continue when she receives a message from her sleuths.
