Edna Purdue: Velma character explained

Edna Purdue is Norville’s grandmother who was presumed dead before Norville discovers where she’s hiding.

After looking into the documents that Mr. S had in his office, Norville discovers a list of employees at the Crystal Cove insane asylum.

One of those names turns out to be an anagram for Edna Purdue and Norville goes to the asylum to confirm his suspicions.

When he finally meets his grandmother, he doesn’t expect the kind of person she has become.

Edna has been working on her brain research and perfected it while hiding from the military for all these years.

But she still has a lot to learn about being a good human being.

Growing a heart

Daphne goes along with Norville and they get a first-hand look at Edna’s work. She can take people’s brains out and still keep them alive while they find themselves.

Then she can put them back in their bodies to live out their lives. Edna reveals that the brains of the girls that Victoria killed will die unless their solution is changed.

Since she cannot leave, Daphne suggests going into her body so that she can move freely.

Edna almost doesn’t save the girls for selfish reasons, but after meeting Blythe and seeing how Norville has turned out, she has a change of heart.

Since Amber could sense that it was someone else in Daphne’s body, Edna recruits her to dig into the mystery of Victoria’s ghost.

They find out that when a person dies, their consciousness does remain for a short period and Victoria’s ghost is real, not Norville’s hallucination.
