Duncan Muir: The Crown season 6 part 1 character explained

In The Crown season 6 part 1, Duncan Muir is a fictionalized character who is a photographer known for taking pictures of the royal family. Forbes Masson plays Duncan Muir.

Duncan Muir is one of the two photographers introduced in the second episode of The Crown season 6 part 1. He is a professional photographer, working out of Ballater, near Aberdeen, in Scotland.

Duncan’s bread and butter is traditional portraiture, weddings, and graduations. However, his passion is capturing pictures of the royal family. He is obsessed with Queen Elizabeth and calls himself a proud Elizabethan.

Duncan gets sick of people who criticize the royal family. He thinks not everyone can do what they do, which involves being punctual and prepared with kind words for everybody. For the most part, his photographs paint a beautiful picture of the royal family.

A loyal photographer

Duncan is the polar opposite of Mario Brennan, another photographer who appears in the second episode of The Crown season 6. While Mario is known for clicking photographs of celebrities for money by invading their privacy, Duncan does it for the sole purpose of his love for the royal family.

Duncan clicks the photographs of Charles and his sons

When Diana and Dodi’s pictures of kissing are published, Charles is advised to respond by doing a counter photo for it. For that, they need a trustworthy photographer, and Duncan is selected to do the photoshoot.

Duncan helps Charles and his sons click photographs that say the opposite of everything that Dodi and Diana’s photos do. In real life, a press pool of photographers took those pictures, and whether it was a response to Diana’s photos is unknown.
