Diana’s death in The Crown season 6 part 1 explained

In The Crown season 6 part 1, Diana meets her end in a car accident with her friend, Dodi, while being chased by paparazzi in Paris.

The first part of The Crown‘s final season explores how Diana and Dodi developed a relationship over the course of eight weeks. People’s interest in Diana grows more than ever when a photograph of Diana and Dodi kissing becomes public.

Diana and Dodi are chased everywhere they go. The show, from time to time, hints at the inevitable that comes soon.

The cause of Diana’s death

The first part of The Crown season 6 doesn’t delve into the investigation of Diana’s death. However, it does hint at what caused it.

When Dodi and Diana arrive in Paris, apart from the crowds that keep Diana and Dodi surrounded to the point one would almost feel suffocated, the show also gives special attention to Diana and Dodi’s driver, Henri.

Henri shows signs of being inept when he takes the couple through a route that they had specifically discussed avoiding. At the end of the third episode, Diana and Dodi decide to go back to the latter’s apartment.

Henri assures Diana and Dodi that arrangements as requested are made

Dodi asked for Henri to drive them. The series shows that Henri had drinks before driving Diana and Dodi. Dodi specifically devised a plan. He and Diana will drive out from the back with Henri driving them, while the other two cars will distract the paparazzi.

The arrangements are made. Henri even shows aggression towards a small group of photographers at the back of their building, saying that they will never catch them.

Following that, he drives Diana and Dodi into a tunnel, followed by the paparazzi, where they end up in an accident that kills both Dodi and Diana.
