In I Hate Christmas, Gianna finds Davide Trevisan on Tinder. However, they date for a very short while. Nicolas Maupas plays Davide.
Davide is a 19-year-old A-level student. His parents are in the business of organizing weddings for Americans in Italy and are not home most of the time.
On his very first date with Gianna, he gives her the most memorable intercourse ever. Though Davide’s age bothers Gianna, she develops true feelings for him.
Gianna jokes that she would’ve fallen in love with Davide’s older brother if he had one, and that joke turns things sour between them, which leads to Davide ghosting her for a while.
After taking her father’s advice, Gianna decides to make the first move and tries to surprise Davide on his birthday, only to find him with another girl.
Despite all of that, Gianna confesses her love to Davide, who claims that he has different plans for life; he intends to travel the world. He likes to think that they are at different stages of life. Hence, Gianna and Davide part ways.
A year later
Davide meets Gianna again a year later in the hospital where she works. He has started working for an NGO in Bali. He specifically works in children’s education.
He is back home because his friend got into an accident and is going to take time to recover. Since his friends’ parents are abroad, Davide has decided to spend Christmas with his friend.
Davide’s Santa
On Christmas Eve a year ago, someone sent a Santa to Gianna’s door. The Santa, in Love Actually style, had cue cards with lovely messages written on them for Gianna.
She assumes it was Umberto who sent the Santa, but upon finding out that he didn’t send any Santa, she investigates. Eventually, Santa knocks on her door again and informs her that it’s Davide who sent him.
Throughout the second season, Davide tries to tell her something. In the finale, he gets to speak to her. Davide claims that she is the reason he is working for an NGO. He noticed how taking care of people made Gianna happy, and that inspired him.
Davide likes to think she deserves a man who will take care of her the way she takes care of others. Hence, he sent that Santa with cue cards, saying she is perfect the way she is and deserves happiness.
At the end of the second season, after realizing what true love is and decoding Davide’s message, Gianna finds a man like that in the form of Filippo, her new neighbor who had become a close friend of hers.
