In I Hate Christmas season 2, Filippo is Gianna’s new neighbor who moves in with his daughter, Monica. Pierpaolo Spollon plays Filippo.
Filippo is a single father raising Monica on his own. He and Monica have taken over Caterina’s bar. Initially, Gianna suspects that Filippo is a pedophile living with his 15-year-old girlfriend after looking at their parcels that end up at her door.
It’s only when Filippo introduces himself and talks about his daughter that Gianna learns that she misjudged him. Filippo proves to be a very nice friend who swiftly fits into Gianna’s circle. Filippo’s bar becomes Gianna’s and her friends’ new place to spend time and hang out.
Gianna and Filippo continue to grow close, and he becomes a friend that Gianna can call at 3 in the morning when she is going crazy. Even Filippo picks up her call and comes to comfort her. He also takes care of her when she shows up drunk at her door.
Filippo is a great cook, and in the finale, he is responsible for preparing the Christmas dinner at Gianna’s while she is busy taking care of other stuff.
Filippo tells Gianna about true love
Didi makes Filippo a candidate that Gianna can go out with and make Umberto jealous. Unfortunately, Filippo has made a pact with himself. He won’t be dating anyone until Monica goes to the university.
Despite knowing about Filippo’s pact, Gianna encourages him to go on a date with a girl, who turns out to be a thief. Filippo pours out his frustrations on Gianna for acting like a teenager and tells her what it truly means to be in love.
Seventeen years ago, wearing a Blink-182 t-shirt, Filippo had the most amazing first date, on which he claims he even saw Santa’s sleigh. If Gianna had truly fallen in love, she would have seen the sleigh too.
The fate of Filippo at the end of season 2
Filippo and Gianna stop talking to each other after Filippo loses it over Gianna. Later, at a party, the two reconcile. Filippo says that Gianna messed up his life, but at the same time, she made him live and have fun.
Filippo and Gianna share a moment. Later, Filippo invites Gianna to join him and Monica to the North Pole. He believes they might catch Santa’s sleigh again. Gianna changed Filippo’s perspective. He used to believe that the sleigh could only pass once. Now he thinks it can pass more than once.
After seeing the effort Filippo has put into making sure that her Christmas dinner is perfect, decoding Davide’s message for her, and hearing what true love is from different people, Gianna realizes that she is in love with Filippo; he is her sleigh.
She finds Filippo at the end of season 2 and confesses her love for him. Filippo takes care of her the way she takes care of others; he answers her phone at 3 in the morning and makes her eat even when she doesn’t have the time to. The two kiss and start dating.
