Darika “Day” Chokwithee: Ready, Set, Love character explained

Day, a girl from a humble background, gets a chance to participate in Ready, Set, Love and unexpectedly becomes an audience favorite. Kemisara Paladesh plays Day.

In the show’s world, having a father is a luxury, and Day does not have that luxury. Day had to take care of herself and her sister, May, all by herself after her mother’s death.

She does all kinds of odd jobs to make money, yet she cannot afford the medical treatment that her sick sister needs.

May is a huge fan of The Gentlemen. On the other hand, Day has no interest in The Gentlemen or Ready, Set, Love, a game show where women compete for a husband.

When it is announced that five girls will be chosen through a lottery to compete in the game show, May decides to register on Day’s behalf and wins the lottery.

Initially, Day refuses to participate but later agrees only to get May an autograph of her favorite Gentleman, Son.

However, upon learning that the winner and their family receive top-notch benefits, Day decides to compete seriously to get the best treatment for May.

Falling in love with Son

Unlike the other participants, Day is not from a famous family or extremely talented. She also does not know anything about The Gentlemen, which puts her at a disadvantage.

Even though all the other lottery winners get eliminated, Day manages to clear the first round, thanks to all the information that May has given her over the years.

Just when it seems like she will get eliminated, Son recognizes her as his childhood friend and saves her from elimination.

Later, she wins a date with Son and tries to act classy. When an unimpressed Son gives her a low score, she does not hesitate to remind him of his privilege.

Son and Day eventually start liking each other. Once Day recognizes Son, she sneaks out of The Farm with him to spend a day outside.

Their date ends with a kiss and Son telling her that the game show is rigged. Day, along with Son and Paper, then decides to work with her friend, Valentine, to expose the truth.

The fight against injustice

The show’s producer, Jenny, believed that Day’s presence would boost the show’s ratings, and she was not wrong.

Day becomes a symbol of hope for many ordinary women like her and quickly becomes an audience favorite. She comes to be known as “Lotto Girl”.

However, as Day spends more time at The Farm, she realizes that women like her are not given a fair chance at finding a husband.

Day and her friends’ plans to expose the truth fail, and as Eve Capital is paying for May’s treatment, Day has no choice but to follow their orders.

Despite everything, Day makes it to the top five, which means she will get to marry a Gentleman, just not the one she wants.

When Valentine makes Day see that the hopes of the masses are riding on her and May encourages her to fight for her happiness, Day decides to go against Jenny’s instructions.

She tries her best to win, aiming to marry Son, but ultimately loses to Chanel. Fortunately, Chanel chooses Max instead of Son.

When it is Day’s turn to choose, she selects Son, but not before revealing the reality of the game show. As a result, Day and Son have to flee.

If she had not done that, she would have become part of The Family and lived a comfortable life, but she chooses justice over comfort.

The City Ground gives Day, along with Son and May, shelter. Now that they have the freedom to be together, they start a family and go on to have a son.
