Ending explained:

Connor is out

Code 8 Part 2 picks up five years after the events of its predecessor. Connor gets out of prison after doing his time.

Garrett greets him soon and asks him to join or ask for anything, for going to prison for him too. However, Connor is concise in his refusal of the offer.

He begins earning an honest living working as a janitor at a community center, keeping out of trouble and being familiar to only Mina, an elderly woman who was a friend of his mother.

Sergeant King & the K9

Sergeant Kingston is the youngest candidate running for union president.

He’s at the forefront of the new Guardians Program that has now launched robotic dogs that are deployed throughout Lincoln City.

These K9 robot dogs are supposed to be the answer to the public outcry for police reform and abolishing the violent Guardians.

The robotic K9s are supposed to be free of lethal force and only deal with the offenders in an effective way that does away with deaths.

However, Kingston, or King, as people refer to him, is a shining example of the systematic corruption in the police force.

He has curried favors from powerful people and made connections everywhere.

Most importantly, he has cut deals with Garrett and takes a hefty bribe for allowing him to continue his drug trade.

As for the K9s, he uses his corrupt colleagues in his department to make sure the robotic dogs can be lethal whenever he deems it necessary.

Tarak ends up witnessing his corruption so he orders his men to unleash the K9 on him.

Tarak is ultimately cornered and killed outside his apartment complex, by a dog who injects him with a lethal dose of the drug Psyke.

Pavani & Tarak

Pavani is a 14-year-old PWP (people with power) who lives with her brother Tarak alone. She’s a straight-A student but to get into a special program she needs new books.

To get her those books, Tarak needs money, and that’s hard and risky to earn in the business he’s in.

Tarak is also a PWP and runs bags for Garrett, wanting to do more than just that in a bid to earn more and better provide for his sister.

His desperation grows when Garrett refuses to promote Tarak just yet. Tarak ends up following Garrett’s men to the drop site where they leave King’s bribe money and take it for himself.

However, King and his men arrive and after failing to hide from them, Tarak makes a run for it. A K9 ultimately kills him, and Pavani witnesses it.

King, who’s watching the live feed from the K9, orders to contend with the girl too, but the live connection with the dog inexplicably severs when he lunges at Pavani.

This is because, as some later come to understand, is because of her powers, which she can use to manipulate technology.

She runs away and hides inside a toolshed at the Lincoln City Community Center. Connor finds her and takes her in after Mina advises he take her somewhere safe.

The cameras capture Connor and Pav together, and King’s men are on the constant lookout. Connor eventually has to turn to Garrett and take him up on the favor he’s owed.

Garrett’s agenda

Garrett, however, already has an agenda of his own.

As soon as King had learned of Connor, he met with Garrett and told him about Pav and Connor, and that he needed the girl as she’s a witness and witnesses talk.

King can’t afford the truth getting exposed and his candidacy getting compromised. Garrett learns about Pav and sees her as an opportunity.

Garrett meets Connor and tells him Pav will work for him at the Towers because she’s a Transducer and her powers can be highly beneficial for his trade.

Connor is overpowered and has no choice, but Garrett also needs Pav to forget about what she saw.

He uses one of his PWP to erase her memories, but when they start going for all her memories with her brother, Connor frees Pav and uses his powers to escape with her.

Garrett’s men and King’s Guardians ambush Connor and Pav, who are helped by Mina, who sacrifices herself to save them.

An injured Garrett joins Connor and Pav to escape the attack from King, who decides to go after him after seeing Garrett not following the deal and killing Pav and Connor.

Stealing evidence

Garrett, Connor, and Pav join hands to go steal video evidence from one of the K9 dogs that King has in his home. They manage to steal the K9’s head and take it to Garrett’s headquarters at the towers.

However, instead of extracting data from it, Garrett decides to keep it with him as leverage against King. He tries to pressure and threaten King with it but King rejects his offer and threats.

He stabs Garrett and leaves him cuffed outside the building. During the climax of Code 8 Part 2, Connor and Pav take the head from Garrett’s men and decide to fight their way out of the building.

The truth comes out

Pav uses her powers to contend with the K9 dogs, one of which injects a lot of Psyke into Connor before she takes control of it.

A stumbling Connor carries Pav outside, where policemen and cars greet them. Pav spots a journalist and her cameraman.

She calls them over so she can relay the contents from the K9 head to the public, by touching the camera broadcasting a live feed.

Kingston and his men try to stop, and even Connor and Pav, but Davis stops them while Garret uses his powers to stop them as well.

As the truth is broadcasted to everyone via the news, King is detained and arrested, as Code 8 Part 2 reaches its epilogue.

The aftermath

Three months later, Connor returns to normal life and his job as a janitor at the Lincoln City Community Center, that Pav also visits, who’s leading a happier life now.

The attorney general is conducting a thorough investigation into the K9 program, digging through the corruption that she believes runs even deeper.

In an effort to help those affected by this crime, the city council will likely pass a bill that releases millions of dollars into the Monument Hill community and restricts the use of police robotics in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, there are also people who criticize this bill, pointing to the recent reports of an increase in the Psyke influx into Lincoln City from an unknown source.

Code 8 Part 2 strongly hints that this unknown source is none other than Garrett, who smiles at the news of the increase in Psyke influx as he sits in front of the TV inside the prison.
