Cem Murathan, who is seeking a divorce from Leyla’s client, becomes one of Leyla’s love interests. In Thank You, Next, Hakan Kurtaş plays Cem.
When Leyla represents a woman named Tuba in a divorce case, she meets Tuba’s husband, Cem Murathan, a good-looking entrepreneur.
Tuba, unwilling to divorce Cem, makes demands that Cem would never agree to, resulting in a messy and prolonged divorce settlement.
Despite everything, Cem is respectful and caring towards Tuba. He does not like Leyla much after she inadvertently sends Tuba to the hospital.
Cem begins intentionally annoying Leyla whenever possible. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, Cem and Leyla cannot deny their mutual attraction.
Tuba eventually agrees to divorce Cem, and a settlement is reached, but Leyla cannot stop thinking about Cem.
Cem’s past impacts his present
Leyla is attracted to Cem, and it is evident that Cem feels the same way because he keeps flirting with her.
Cem is still very close to his first wife, Defne, which contributed to the breakdown of his other marriages, as his other wives suspected him of having an affair with Defne.
When Cem and Defne were married, they lost their unborn baby and Cem’s brother in a car accident.
Defne divorced Cem because being together reminded them both of the tragedy, but their shared loss also brought them closer.
Although they are no longer romantically involved, they are still family, but as Cem has not disclosed his past to anyone, no one understands the nature of his relationship with Defne.
Since Cem never answers Leyla’s questions about his relationship with Defne, Leyla comes to believe that Cem is emotionally closed off.
Leyla is unaware that Cem’s partners did not stay long enough for him to open up, which explains Cem’s history of short-lived marriages, none lasting more than three years.
Leyla is scared of falling in love with Cem, as she suspects that he still loves Defne. She does not want to become another ex-wife.
Letting Leyla go
While Leyla tries to keep her distance, Leyla’s firm is hired by Cem, making it impossible for Leyla to stay away from Cem.
At the opening of Cem’s hotel, Leyla finally gives in to her feelings and sleeps with him. However, it is Ömer’s name that Leyla calls out in her sleep.
Cem also receives pictures of Leyla and Ömer, leading him to believe that Leyla is in love with Ömer, so Cem leaves immediately without saying goodbye.
Cem’s sudden departure after sleeping with her confirms Leyla’s fears about Cem being a narcissist. S he later rejects Cem’s attempts to talk about the incident.
Meanwhile, Cem’s second and third wives, Nil and Tuba, collaborate on a book and photo exhibition portraying Cem as a narcissist.
While it does not faze Cem, their experiences resonate deeply with Leyla’s own, further solidifying her opinion about Cem.
Fighting for Leyla
When Leyla learns about Cem’s past, she realizes that she was wrong about Cem, who repeatedly assured her that he never cheated on his partners and was not involved with Defne.
A day before Leyla’s wedding to Ömer, Leyla finds out about Ömer’s messages to Cem. In addition to that, Cem decides to attend the wedding.
Leyla goes to Cem’s room and confronts him about giving up on them, which leads to Cem spending the night reflecting on his actions.
He decides to fight for Leyla instead of watching her marry Ömer. He pleads with her to stay and talk to him, but Leyla is unwilling to listen to him.
While Leyla calls off the wedding after uncovering Ömer’s lies, she is not ready to forgive Cem just yet. However, Cem is determined to be with Leyla and refuses to give up this time.
