Claire Walker’s attempts to save her sister, Maya, and expose the Burketts get her killed. In Fool Me Once, Natalie Anderson plays Claire.
Maya was deployed overseas when Claire was killed in a burglary. However, Maya finds it odd that burglars targeted Claire’s house when her sister had nothing worth stealing.
On top of that, Maya’s husband Joe, who worked closely with Claire and met her more often than Maya, does not seem upset about Claire’s death.
Maya starts suspecting her husband of being involved in Claire’s death. Upon having the bullets from the gun belonging to both her and her husband examined, Maya’s suspicions are confirmed.
This results in Maya killing Joe, but she remains unaware of the reasons that led Joe to kill Claire.
Later, Maya sees her dead husband on her nanny cam. She realizes that something is amiss and decides to uncover the truth.
Working with Corey
When Maya starts investigating her sister’s death, she finds out that Claire kept a secret phone. Maya finds it hidden in an old chest at Claire’s house.
Maya then comes to know that Claire had been contacting Corey the Whistle. Maya eventually tracks Corey down and is told that Claire was working with him.
Claire got in touch with Corey and convinced him not to release the audio of the tape of Maya killing civilians on a mission, as Maya would have had to face dire consequences.
In exchange, Claire promised to help him take down the Burketts. Maya, a pharmaceutical scientist, worked at Burkett Global Enterprises; she was hired by Joe.
Claire knew that the company was selling dangerous drugs and falsifying drug trials. She joined hands with Corey to expose the Burketts.
Claire also discovered that the Burketts have been paying a man called Tommy Dark for 26 years now, but Claire failed to find out why.
Discovering the truth about Andrew’s death
While Maya looks into Claire’s death, Claire’s children, Dan and Abby, find old pictures of Claire that they have never seen before.
The two teenagers come to know that their mother had a child with a man named Alexander Dosman before she met their father.
Claire never told Alexander about the baby and gave it up for adoption. Abby and Dan eventually find their half-brother, Louis.
Louis reveals that Claire was in touch with him. A day before she was killed, she took him to the school that Joe and Andrew went to and spoke to the headmaster.
After visiting the school, Claire found out that Joe had killed Andrew. At the same time, Joe came to know about Claire working with Corey.
Joe attacked Claire when she was alone at home, but Claire refused to give him the documents that proved Joe and his family’s guilt.
To protect himself and his family’s empire, Joe killed Claire in cold blood. However, Maya killed her own husband and sacrificed her life to expose the Burketts, ensuring that her sister’s death was not in vain.
