Benny Alvarez: Them: The Scare character explained

In Them: The Scare, Benny Alvarez’s case puts Dawn’s career in jeopardy. Oscar Daniel Reyez plays Benny.

Diaz introduces Dawn to Benny’s case as a lead on the red-haired man that they are searching for, who might be the killer committing the gruesome crimes they are investigating.

A couple of nights ago, an exorcism was being performed on Benny, who claims to have been seeing a man with red hair who is watching Benny from outside his window.

Benny’s story

Dawn and Diaz visit Benny, who lives with his grandmother. While Diaz handles the grandmother, Dawn finds a chance to talk to Benny alone.

Benny confesses to seeing the man in his mirrors too and longing for his brother. Benny and his brother came down from Mexico to live with their grandmother.

Benny’s brother had a hard time assimilating and was getting into trouble, resulting in his grandmother sending him back to his parents.

Benny’s case is important to Dawn because it has all the similarities to the ones they are investigating. The elements, such as the red-haired man and the covering of mirrors, match.

Hence, Dawn and Diaz visit Benny’s home at night to see what transpires. Another exorcism is performed on Benny. Dawn sees Benny losing his life, so she rescues him from his own people to take him to the hospital.

Diaz is left behind to handle the crowd. On their way to the hospital, the entity kills Benny.

Benny’s case’s connection to Edmund

Benny’s death puts Dawn under a lot of fire. She is detained. Dawn is forced to investigate the matter again when the entity starts targeting her family.

Dawn learns that the spirit of her dead twin brother, Edmund, is haunting them. If that’s not enough, Dawn also figures out that Edmund is trying to talk to her through these murders.

Edmund is sharing his story with her. Benny’s separation from his brother refers to the separation that Dawn and Edmund suffered, with Edmund being sent back to the foster home when he became difficult to handle.

While Athena dies trying to stop Edmund, Dawn is able to convince her brother that he has given himself up to something he is not. Dawn expresses her love for Edmund. This leads to the death of the entity that is seeking to take away Dawn too.

The charges against Dawn in Benny’s case are dropped in the final moments of the series after she presents the comments Detective McKinney made before being killed by her. Diaz testifies that Dawn acted in self-defense.
