ASI Thupalli: Killer Soup character explained

In Killer Soup, Assistant Sub-Inspector Thupalli is quick to solve Prabhakar’s case but never gets to report it. Anbu Thasan plays Thupalli.

Thupalli is an energetic and enthusiastic cop who is also studying to advance in his career. Unlike his senior, Hassan, he is quick on his feet.

Later in the show, the ghost of Thupalli guides Hassan and helps him crack the case of Prabhakar.

Thupalli’s death

The case of Prabhakar begins with the death of Kiran Nadar, a private investigator hired by Prabhakar himself.

Thupalli investigates the crime scene where Kiran Nadar was found carefully. He doesn’t dismiss the smallest details, including the testimonies of beggars who saw someone on the road.

Hassan and Thupalli’s styles of investigation don’t match. Thupalli, being a rookie, sometimes tends to go overboard while talking to people assisting them in their investigation.

Hassan may not like Thupalli’s over-enthusiastic nature, but Thupalli’s dedication to solving the case helps Thupalli catch Swathi while she is erasing traces that will lead cops to Umesh.

Thupalli and Swathi face each other near a cliff

Thupalli is able to call Hassan, but due to the lack of signal, Hassan doesn’t hear what Thupalli says properly.

Thupalli meets his end when Swathi sneaks on him from behind. She doesn’t touch him. He slips and falls off the edge of a cliff into the river.

The ghost of Thupalli

Thupalli’s death wrecks Hassan, who may have criticized Thupalli’s way of working from time to time but knew that he had a great future ahead.

Hassan starts seeing visions of Thupalli’s ghost. In these visions, Thupalli is wet and wearing the same uniform and raincoat he was wearing when he fell into the water and died.

Thupalli talks to Hassan in poetry, which is from a book that he had. Decoding these poems helps Hassan make significant progress in the case.

Hassan does manage to find photographs of Umesh and Swathi, but they are destroyed. Later, he ridicules himself for following these clues.

That is until the reports of the body found near the cliff come in and a shopkeeper recognizes Swathi and Umesh, giving Hassan enough reasons to arrest Swathi and Umesh.
