Amber: Velma character explained

Amber is a new person who moves to Crystal Cove along with their mother and is disliked by Velma. Sara Ramirez voices the character.

Amber is introduced in the first episode of Velma season 2 and they immediately come off as adversarial after they beat Velma in an argument.

Daphne finds them interesting but Velma is cautious of their whole vibe. Amber is a goth who moved with their mother to open an occult book store in the town.

Their mother is friends with Donna and Linda so they stay in Daphne’s room with them until the store picks up.

Their belief in the supernatural and things like manifestation attracts Daphne and pushes Velma away.

Coming in handy

When Norville says that he’s being haunted by Victoria’s ghost, Amber offers to do a seance to cure him.

Velma disbelieves Amber’s ideas and works toward discrediting them. The seance isn’t a success and Velma’s doubts in Amber are raised.

Later on, Amber is almost burned at the stake by a mob of angry men after Fred suggests that the killings might be connected to witches

Velma succeeds in sending them back and makes peace with Amber, but the suspicions rise again when she thinks that Daphne cheated on her with Amber.

The truth is that Amber helped Daphne put a curse on Velma so that she couldn’t be loved by anyone else ever again.

When Amber recognizes that Edna is in Daphne’s body, Edna recruits them to research Victoria’s ghost which remains in this realm.

Together, they discover that a person’s consciousness stays behind for some time until they have resolved their lives.

When Velma becomes a ghost, Amber offers to get her back in her body with a spell that only works on Halloween.
