Time-trippers in T・P BON explained

In T・P BON, Bon learns about Time-trippers when he accompanies Ream on a mission to find a time-tripper.

Bon and Ream are asked to rescue an American writer named Ambrose Bierce. The writer went to Mexico in 1913 and disappeared without a trace.

Ambrose Bierce is a time-tripper, so no one knows where or in which year he currently exists, which means it is not going to be easy to rescue him.

Who are considered to be time-trippers?

Time-trippers are people who are trapped in a temporal vortex. They keep drifting in the sea of hyperspace without control; Buyoyon compares it to riding a tornado.

They suddenly find themselves in different time periods and places without intending to time travel.

However, time-trippers are not rare. As Ream tells Bon, there have been several known time-trippers throughout human history, too many to count.

She gives Bon the example of Charlotte Ann Moberly, an English college principal, who traveled to France in August 1901.

When Charlotte visited the Gardens of Versailles, she and her friend suddenly found themselves in the year 1789.

They had traveled back in time and witnessed a scene from the French Revolution. The details that the two women provided from their time travel were accurate.

There was also an English sailor who traveled to the future in the 1850s and found himself in Boston in 1945. Evidence was found that supported his story.

Ream’s mentor, who disappeared on a mission, is also considered a time-tripper by Time Patrol.

The perils of time-tripping

Buyoyon emphasizes that one should not get close to a time-tripper, as people can end up in dangerous situations with them, with no way to return to their original timeline.

Time Patrol agents are sent to find and bring back time-trippers, but while doing that, several of them have gotten lost themselves.

Bon and Ream’s mission to find Bierce can be very dangerous not just because he is a time-tripper but also because he is traveling to the future, which is much trickier than going back in time.

Bierce started drifting in time after he went to Mexico, and now, caught in the flow of time, he is wandering toward the future.

When he was spotted by the people at headquarters, they tagged his location with a space-time gun, allowing Bon and Ream’s Time Boats to track him on autopilot.

As soon as Bierce shows up in an accessible time period, Bon and Ream go after him. The two of them get caught in a space-time vortex and are stranded in the future.

While they find Bierce and are eventually rescued, the mission highlights the danger that time-trippers and those around them face.
