David “Davy” Siegel: Sugar character explained

In Sugar, David “Davy” Siegel is the son of Bernie Siegel and grandson of Jonathan Siegel. Nate Corddry plays Davy.

Davy is popularly known for shooting the sequel to the film The Boy in the Corner. In his new film, he plays the same role, but his character is all grown up now.

Davy was once nominated for Best Supporting Actor as a child, and his mother thinks he is going to win the award for Best Actor now.

Meeting Sugar

Sugar first meets Davy when he visits Olivia’s condo. Davy claims that he comes by Olivia’s home every day because his father, Bernie, has told him to do so and find out if Olivia is back.

Sugar is suspicious of Davy because he walked right in instead of knocking on the door or ringing the bell; Davy just assumed that she wasn’t home, and that doesn’t fit right.

Davy, on the other hand, continues to keep an eye on Sugar by having him followed, bugging his room at the hotel where he is staying, and digging into who he is.

Davy is hiding something that he doesn’t want the world to find out. Sugar’s investigation into Olivia’s case may bring those indiscretions to light. Neither Davy nor his father, Bernie, want that.

Davy’s secret

In the fourth episode, in search of Olivia, Sugar and Melanie meet Taylor, an actress, who reveals that Davy is a sexual predator.

Taylor and Davy have hooked up once. When Taylor got an opportunity to audition for a Bernie Siegel film, she approached him again.

At first, Davy was great and excited for her until he started texting her, saying that this is going to be a much bigger role and he would like to come over and help her with the audition.

Taylor politely refused, but Davy never stopped texting her, resulting in Taylor bluntly letting him know that nothing is happening between them.

Davy replies by sending a video of them together in a compromising position. He threatens to leak the video if she doesn’t let him come over.

Taylor reported it to the cops. The next day, a lawyer called Taylor, offering her money to sign an NDA about Davy.

Taylor told Olivia about this, and Olivia revealed that she is not the only one. Sexual blackmail is Davy’s thing.

Stallings’ connection

Near the end of the fourth episode, Sugar attempts to talk to Jonathan at a screening, believing that Jonathan is holding something back.

In the meantime, news about Davy’s sexual misbehavior leaks. Davy receives a call from Stallings, warning him that his name shouldn’t come up if he ends up talking to the authorities.
