My Hero Academia season 6 episode 12 recap & review: Threads of Hope

‘My Hero Academia’ season 6 episode 12 sees the Pro Heroes and the Villains evenly matched in a battle fueled by reinforcements from both sides.

Recap

‘Threads of Hope’ picks up on the impending carnage of Dabi as he lunges at Endeavor, ready to incinerate his father to ashes.

While other heroes tense up to prepare for the counter, a seemingly unstoppable Dabi is abruptly halted and grabbed by a slew of cables, thanks to the Fiber controlling quirk of none other than Best Jeanist.

Although the Pro Hero isn’t quite healed completely from his horrible injuries, Best Jeanist puts his most formidable foot forward and acts as a significant reinforcement for the heroes.

However, it’s not just the Pro Heroes who are aided by reinforcements; a group of high-end Nomus arrive at the battlefield as well.

Best Jeanist restrains Gigantomachia, Dabi, and other League of Villains members as well, including the unconscious Shigaraki. However, it’s too heft a load to bear that Best Jeanist persists through with immense bravery.

Dabi burns through the cables and engages Shoto, who tries his best to contend with his eldest brother as the latter rattles on about his unhinged desires to kill the perfect puppet that Endeavor created.

Gigantomachia exhibits a surge in power when Shigaraki mutters his name while unconscious. However, Best Jeanist restrains him again.

However, when the ginormous villain just about breaks free of the cables, Endeavor finally moves and extracts out one last punch, delivering it upon Gigantomachia before losing all energy and falling down.

Moments later, Gigantomachia falls down as well, and Best Jeanist figures out that the sedatives that the students had managed to give him earlier on have finally taken effect. Meanwhile, the Nomus and Dabi wreak havoc.

Nejire, Bakugo, Deku, and Todoroki, all rise up to fight off the villains but when the Nomus get too close to Best Jeanist, another major reinforcement arrives in the form of Lemillion, who easily holds off the blue abominations.

Review

  • While ‘My Hero Academia’ season 6 episode 12 has a lot of surprise developments being made one after another, the progression of the story is next to nothing, as most of the focus is dedicated to the changing dynamics of the current battle.
  • Speaking of changing dynamics, the struggle between the two factions is greatly entertaining to see.
  • While Deku’s unrelenting tenacity despite horrible injuries is not a surprise, Bakugo’s bravado is a shining example of his determination, which also leaves more to be desired from the frequently highlights-deprived character.
  • Lemillion’s arrival is one of the most exhilarating aspects of the episode and compels the viewer to anticipate how the brilliant hero would navigate the tricky battle in future ‘My Hero Academia’ episodes.
